Letters from the Troops
6th July 2008

Two letters from Afghanistan have now been received thanking us for the parcels of biscuits. They are especially welcome during coffee breaks.


African Children's Choir

The African Children's Choir held their concert in the Church, performing to a large enthusiastic audience. View pictures from this exciting event by clicking here. Over £1,000 was raised on the night to support the work of the Choir in Africa.

Project Marcus Update

Christian Aid Walk
1st June 2008

The Christian Aid sponsored walk over the Forth Road Bridge will be replaced by our own local event at the Beveridge Park on the 21st June. More details ...


African Children's Choir
25th May 2008

The African Children's Choir will perform a concert at St. John's as part of their UK tour on the 2nd July. This will be a free ticketed concert with a collection taken during the service for the work of the choir. Read more about the Choir ...

Host families are needed for the children and their teachers. There are 12 boys and 13 girls aged 7 to 11 and 8 adults. If you are interested in being a host or can help with serving a simple meal to the group on 2nd July please contact Nicola.


Strawberry Teas
25th May 2008

Summer is here! Strawberry Teas start on Friday 30th May from 2pm to 4pm and fortnightly thereafter. We hope to see you for all our Strawberry delights in glorious sunshine in the Church gardens (or in the hall when the weather is not in our favour).


Summer Concert
16th May 2008

The Kirkcaldy Gilbert & Sullivan Society are holding their summer concert in the Church on the 6th June at 7.30pm. Tickets available via the Church or from Ann on (01592) 595824.


General Assembly
11th May 2008

The Minister and elder Graham Harrower are commissioners to the General Assembly which meets in Edinburgh from 15th to 21th May. You can watch or listen live to the proceedings by going to the Church of Scotland's web site where you can also find reports and speeches.


Book Sale
4th May 2008

St Andrew and St George's Church, George Street, Edinburgh are holding their annual book sale from 10th to 16th May (except Sunday, 11th) with proceeds to Christian Aid. This is a huge event with over £100,000 raised last year.


RNLI Concert
4th May 2008

The Kirkcaldy branch of the RNLI is holding a concert by the Inverkeithing Big Band in the Church on Saturday 10th May at 7.30pm. Tickets available from Senga Booth or at the door.


The National Gathering
27th April 2008

The National Gathering is being held at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston from 3rd-4th May. This includes an exciting programme of worship, activities and seminars for children, youth and adults. Sunday's programme includes worship at 11am with Archbishop John Sentamil and John Bell. Tickets are £10 per day or £30 per family per day.


Get-Together Tea Party
20th April 2008

The Annual Get-Together Tea Party is being held on the 1st May at 2pm. There will be stalls and a collection for the Red Cross. Bring your friends! Minimum donation £1.


The Marcus Project
13th April 2008

We are currently collecting donations towards the cost of DVDs (approx £4) to be distributed to local schools as part of the Marcus Project. The project plans to help Churches reach school children with gospel material by giving a Marcus box (Storykeepers video, book and game) to each child in selected years in their local school. In reaching the children with a freebie they expect to strengthen links between Church and school, and between Church and children. Read more about the Marcus Project.


Centenary Flower Festival
6th April 2008

The Centenary Flower Festival dates have been announced as 26-28 September. If you wish to sponsor an arrangement or give a donation towards the cost of the flowers, please contact Margaret Docherty, Moira Meek, Sylvia Harrow or Senga Booth or place an envelope marked "Flower Festival" in the offering during April and May.


Centenary Year Concert
29th March 2008

The concert by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion Scotland started the centenary celebrations in style with music in a wide variety of styles from American Musicals to James Bond!


Biscuits for the Troops
23rd March 2008

Packets of biscuits (not chocolate) are being collected for shipment to Scottish troops in Iraq on behalf of the congregation. Biscuits can be left at the Church over the next few weeks.


New Web Site for St. John's
16th March 2008

St. John's launches its web site which promotes the Church and its organisations in its Centenary year.


Opening Concert Announced
9th March 2008

The opening event of the centenary year has been announced as a special concert by The Band of The Royal British Legion Scotland.
